Money Loops
The best credit methods in 2026: exobiology, carrier and colonisation hauling, commodity trade loops, pirate massacre stacking, platinum mining, exploration data, passenger missions, Operations, and Community Goals. Which old named loops still work, money by budget, and how to squeeze more credits per hour.
Verified: September 10, 2026Game: 4.4.x (Rhino SRV update)
Volatile ⚠️. Markets move. Mission boards change. Carriers fill up. Learn the mechanics, not just the route.
Summary
- Best overall (Odyssey): Exobiology. Cheap ship, low risk, huge payouts. First-logged samples pay 5 times the base value.
- Best hauling: Player Fleet Carrier and colonisation jobs. Other players pay big margins per ton. About 20,000 credits profit per ton has been advertised for construction hauling.
- Best combat: Pirate massacre stacking. Stack missions from many different factions against one pirate faction.
- Best mining: Platinum laser mining. Still the mainstream pick in 2026. Details in Module 10.
- The old named loops are weaker now. Colonisation spread mission destinations across many new systems. Robigo and Sothis are no longer the answer.
- There is no guaranteed credits per hour. Any guide promising one is guessing.
The Big Table
| Method | Rough Earnings | Startup Cost | Risk | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Exobiology | Up to about 95M per Stratum Tectonicas sample on a first log. Irregular. | Low (DBX, Mandalay, Cobra Mk V) | Low | Explorers with Odyssey |
| Carrier and colonisation hauling | About 20k per ton on good jobs | Low to medium | Low | Anyone with cargo space |
| Commodity trade loops | Scales with cargo size | Medium to high | Low to medium | Big haulers |
| Massacre stacking | Roughly 8M to 12M per mission, plus bounties. Big stacks go much higher. | Medium to high (engineered combat ship) | Medium | Combat pilots |
| Platinum laser mining | Tens of millions per session | Medium | Low | Relaxed grinders |
| Exploration data | About 1M per mapped Earth-like or Terraformable Water World, about 3M on a first discovery | Low | Low | Passive income while traveling |
| Passenger missions | Situational | Medium (Lynx Highliner is free) | Low | Route optimizers |
| Operations | Credits plus materials, Merc Coin, and merits | Medium | Medium to high | Combined progression |
| Community Goals | Sometimes huge, always temporary | Varies | Varies | Anyone who checks weekly |
Exobiology (Best Overall)
| Step | What to Do |
|---|---|
| Gear | Odyssey, an Artemis suit, a Detailed Surface Scanner, a small or medium landing-friendly ship |
| Where | Get away from the bubble. Well traveled areas have few unlogged species. |
| Loop | FSS scan for biological signals. Map the planet with the DSS. Land. Take 3 samples per species, far enough apart. Repeat. |
| Sell | Vista Genomics. Survive the trip home. Unsold data dies with you. |
| Money | Stratum Tectonicas base is about 19M. A first log pays base plus a 4 times bonus, about 95M total. |
| Tip | The Nomad (Module 5) speeds up landing on rough terrain, but losing it wipes your data. |
Full species guide: Module 11.
Fleet Carrier and Colonisation Hauling
- Other players post buy orders on their carriers and on colonisation construction sites.
- Buy the cargo nearby. Sell it to the carrier or site. Repeat until the order fills.
- Always check before you buy: remaining demand, carrier location, and pad size.
- New colonised systems often have few factions. Hauling ore from an Extraction economy to an Industrial one can pay well once your rep is maxed.
- Being an Architect yourself is a long term project, not a fast money maker. Architects do get ongoing payments from their facilities.
Commodity Trade Loops
- Use Inara's trade route search. Look at profit per ton, supply and demand, station distance from the star, pad size, and market data age.
- Profit scales with cargo: 15,000 per ton is 1.5M on 100 tons and 15M on 1,000 tons.
- A station 150,000 Ls from the star can kill a route that looks great on paper.
- A Type-8 can beat a Panther on routes that end at outposts.
- Keep a shield. One bad docking or pirate can wipe out several runs.
Pirate Massacre Stacking
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| The trick | Take "Kill Pirates" massacre missions from different issuing factions, all targeting the same pirate faction. One kill counts for all of them. |
| The limit | Missions from the same issuing faction do not stack the same way. |
| Ideal spot | 10 or more issuing factions in 1 or 2 nearby systems, all sending you to one target system with a Hazardous RES or good hunting |
| Stack size | Up to 20 missions at once |
| Skip | "Kill Deserters" and war missions. They do not stack with pirate massacres. |
| Rep | Allied factions pay much more. Build rep in one area and stay. |
| Ships | Vulture, Chieftain, Krait Mk II, Python Mk II, Fer-de-Lance, Corvette |
| Find spots | INTRA (iniv.space/intra) or EDTools PvE (edtools.cc/pve). Both track the moving parts. |
A perfect stack of 20 missions from 20 factions can be worth up to about 10M per kill, according to the E:D PvE Combat Wiki.
Platinum Laser Mining
- Find a Platinum hotspot. Prospect every rock. Mine only the good ones.
- Sell where price and demand are high. Check the market age.
- Kit, hotspots, and core mining: Module 10.
Exploration Data
- Fly Spansh Road to Riches routes. Filter for Earth-like Worlds and Terraformable Water Worlds.
- Map only high value bodies. Value per minute beats scanning everything.
- Pair it with exobiology for the biggest payout per trip.
Passenger Missions
- The Lynx Highliner is the best passenger ship in the game, and it was given away free (Module 5).
- Build rep with local factions. Allied rep unlocks better missions.
- VIP and illegal passengers pay more. Outposts do not scan you for wanted passengers.
Operations (June 2026)
- Pays credits, ship materials, on-foot materials, Merc Coin, and Powerplay merits.
- Hard mode pays more.
- Best for progressing several things at once, not for pure credits. Module 14.
Community Goals
- Check Inara's Community Goals page every week.
- Some pay huge commodity bonuses plus tiered rewards. The Colonia anniversary goals in July and August 2026 were an example.
- Temporary. Jump on them, then move on.
The Named Loops: Do They Still Work?
| Loop | What It Was | Status in 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Robigo (Robigo Mines to Sirius Atmospherics, Sothis) | Illegal VIP passenger runs. Once one of the best money makers. | Much weaker. After colonisation and a mission rebalance, you run out of missions fast. Still usable with Allied rep. |
| Sothis and Ceos | Long range data and passenger runs | Much weaker for money. Colonisation added many new destinations. Still a known Federal rank route (Module 6). |
| Wing hauling missions | Big deliveries split across a wing | Still works. Bring friends with big holds. |
| Tritium to carriers | Buy near Sol, sell to carrier owners | Depends entirely on carrier buy orders. Check Inara. |
| Famous massacre spots (Ngalinn, HIP 35096, Misir) | Classic stacks | Spots dry up as factions shift. Use INTRA or EDTools instead of old lists. |
Money by Budget
| Stage | Ships | Do This |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | Sidewinder to Cobra | Courier and cargo missions, then carrier hauling jobs. Get a DSS and start exobiology as soon as you can. |
| Midgame | Python, Krait Mk II, Type-8, Chieftain, Mandalay | Exobiology, Platinum mining, medium pad trading, massacre stacks, carrier hauling |
| Endgame | Panther, Cutter, Corvette, Mandalay | Bulk hauling and carrier logistics, big massacre stacks, deep space exobiology |
A Fleet Carrier does not make money on its own. Buy one when it makes an activity you already do faster. Module 15.
Squeeze More Credits Per Hour
- Cut travel time. Engineered or pre-engineered FSD. Avoid stations far from the star.
- Grow your hold. Profit per ton multiplies.
- Build rep. Allied factions pay far more.
- Pick the close station if its price is almost as good as the far one.
- Specialize the ship. No weapons on a trader. No cargo racks on a fighter.
- Stack everything you can. Missions, bounties, bonds, and exploration data on the same trip.

Gotchas
- Old guides lie. Check the date on any money guide or video.
- Never spend your rebuy. One loss can erase hours of profit.
- Check demand, not just price. A high price with low demand will not take a full hold.
- Check market age on third party tools before a long haul.
- Carrier orders vanish when other players fill them.
- Grinding something you hate is not worth it. Every method here works.
Needs Checking ⚠️
| Item | Why | Where to Check |
|---|---|---|
| Every credits per hour figure | Markets and missions change constantly | Inara, current community posts |
| Robigo and Sothis mission supply | Depends on system states and colonisation around them | Visit, or recent forum posts |
| Massacre stack spots | Factions and states shift weekly | INTRA, EDTools |
| Operations payouts | New and still being tuned | Frontier patch notes |
